Along Maui’s westside highway heading towards Lahaina is the long stretch of beach known as Ukumehame. There’s a great surf spot off this beach called Thousand Peaks, probably named after the amazing mountain views you get from the water. This beach also has a long reef structure that stretches all the way to Olowalu. It’s also a really nice walking beach because of the driftwood and general scenery. It’s right along the highway so all you have to do is pull off to the side of the road and pick your spot. There are no facilities here, so plan your day accordingly.
